Chamber Top Ten

Our staff voted on some of our favorite Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce videos produced over the years by Sutherland Weston. This is our Top 10:

10.

“Look How Far We’ve Come” (2011)

The #10 entry, as voted on by employees of Sutherland Weston, comes from 2011 when the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce was celebrating its 100th anniversary. This video is packed with history of – and pride in – the Queen City.

9.

City of Bangor / Community Service Award (2014)

In 2014, the City of Bangor was the recipient of the M. Jane Irving Community Service Award. Who better to talk about the forward thinking attitude of the City of Bangor than a group of people who have held the position of City Council Chair over the years in a video dubbed “Mayors Playing Poker.”

8.

Penobscot Theatre Company / Non-Profit of the Year Award (2017)

In 2017, Penobscot Theatre Company was the recipient of the Non-Profit of the Year Award. It’s true…there really is “no business like show business,” and this catchy tune features a number of recognizable faces from Penobscot Theatre Company and this community. Let’s get on with the show!

7.

Cerahelix / Entrepreneurship Award (2014)

In 2014, Cerahelix was the recipient of the Bion & Dorain Foster Entrepreneurship Award. This video takes the form of an old-school instructional video like you might see in an old…school. The creativity of the video combined with the entrepreneurial spirit which earned them the award in the first place earned this video the #7 ranking in our Top 10!

6.

“Night at the Drive-In” (2016)

The 2016 Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner opened with a look into a typical night at the then-new Bangor Drive-In. You might be surprised to see who was sharing vehicles, taking in a feature film on the big screen — we certainly were! In fact, we were so surprised, this video earned the #6 position in our Top 10!

5.

“Roll Out The Barrel” (2017)

The 2017 Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner opened with a look at Bangor’s craft brewing industry, which continues to grow. The #5 entry in our Top 10 countdown features a lot of Bangor area favorites, including Geaghan Brothers Brewing, Orono Brewing Company, the Friar’s Brewery, Sea Dog Brewing Company, Mason’s Brewing Company, and The Growler Bus, with special appearances by the Bangor Police Department and Bangor media legends Don Colson and Felicia Knight!

4.

“Charlie Longo Knows Who You Are” (2014)

2014’s Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards kicked off with a bang. Let’s explain. Charlie Longo was a Bangor City Councilor who – less than three months earlier – did not win re-election to the Council. Charlie, in true Bangor fashion, showed off his strong sense of humor and commitment to community through this very funny, and very memorable “Night Opener” video, which featured several cameos from familiar faces, and earned the #4 slot in our Top 10 countdown.

3.

WBRC / Business of the Year Award (2013)

WBRC was awarded with the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award way back in 2013. If you think further back…way back to the late 70s, a familiar jingle might come to mind from what is arguably America’s favorite fake radio station. For this video, Sutherland Weston combined the two, and with the superb vocal talents of Brianne Beck, the 2013 Business of the Year Award video earned the #3 spot in our Top 10.

2.

Hollywood Casino / Business of the Year Award (2014)

If there has ever been a Business of the Year Awardee that fit the “Hollywood” treatment, it would be the 2014 recipient, Hollywood Casino. The story of Hollywood Casino is a good one for Bangor and for Maine. To give the story that “Hollywood” treatment, it was developed into a movie trailer. It’s a movie we would go see, but since all we have is the trailer, it’s good enough to earn the #2 ranking in our Top 10 countdown.

1.

“We Are Bangor” (2015)

Living here, working here, playing here…haven’t we ALL had to correct someone who pronounces it wrong? Yes. Yes we have. We set out to put an end to that…and the result was a video that was seen all over the world, and the #1 Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards video produced by Sutherland Weston as voted on by our staff.
